The Begining
Apx 1988 - Kelly, Me, JenniferMy Birthday Double Date
I was born in Houston, Texas December 3, 1955 (send presents! <wink>). My mother, Frances Beck, was from Pickens County in Alabama and my father from Seal, Texas (closest town was Mejia, Texas). My mother had a band playing in Houston and hired my father to play steel guitar in her band. She had been told by doctors she could never have children but my father had rare blood and RH negative blood which happened to be the only type compatible with her. I was the first of 3 all born in Houston, Texas.
Eventually, my mother wanted to return to Alabama so around 1962 we relocated to Huntsville, Alabama. My dad had landed a job with the space division of Chrysler who had contracts with NASA and Redstone Arsenal. We moved around several times in my youth and I went to several elementary schools in Huntsville, then in the county for Junior High School at Owens Cross Roads, then New Hope High School. During high school we moved to Milan, Tennessee where I spent a year. I met some great people while there and would SOOOOO love to reconnect.
I was in Band there and we had a very cool Band Director, who along with the ladies Physical Ed teacher, would hang out with a few of the students at a dinner after rehearsal for Band and/or the Play. Yes, I was in a play.. small part as I was also in the play's live "orchestra". It was the musical "Bye, Bye, Birdie". More on the shcool days in the "My Youth" page.
1992 - Darlene, Karen, Melinda, Amy & Me
After a year (we moved mid school year so I arrived as a sophmore and left as a junior) in Tennesse, we moved back to New Hope, Alabama where I graduated in 1974.
In high school, I started working in broadcasting at WGSV in Guntersville, AL. Right after high school, while going to college, I started playing music in a band in a Huntsville night club. I spent most of my life doing both (see sections on my broadcasting days and my band days). It was when Elvis died that I discovered a magazine that opened my eyes to some alternate lifestyle fun and games. I later realized it had been in me from around the 2nd grade but never knew about it. If you are interested, I will share a little here but to know more details, you will have to email me as I do not want to offend anyone on this web site.
I eventually retired from music and radio work, although I still miss parts of it especially broadcasting. I worked a while for an electronics company doing tech support and some cell phone repair while doing real estate photography and print layouts for The Real Estate Book. I moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1999 then in 2001 to the metro Washington, DC area of Maryland where I became a licensed Realtor® and later sat for my Broker License. If you know anyone in the market to buy or sell a home, let me know. Although I am not currently actively practicing, I can offer a referral to a great agent I still do some work with via a virtual office type setup.
Maryland Apx. 2003
In the summer of 2007, I relocated to a horse farm in upper Minnesota for personal reasons and to help out a friend of mine who's husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer. We lost him in May 2008. I then relocated to Fayetteville, NC in mid August of 2008 to manage a carpet care company for some freinds of mine. They skipped town and left me hanging which of course means they were not truely friends, but that's another story.
