Medical Update March 2007
Journal of Recovery
Here is my journal of recent recovery and medical information on my recovery. Photos and images are linked without a thumbnail since they are so graphic. They are listed at the bottom of the Medical Updates Page. They are not for the weak stomach.
Saturday March 17, 2007 The wound is green... I don't know why, but for some reason today.. it just looks GREEN!
As for the glucose and blood pressure... my BP was in the normal range for a few weeks then back up above normal.. all with the same routine... not sure what is causing it.. my glucose level has a 30 day average of 120 and up until 2 days ago my 7 day average was 112. For some reason the last 2 days I have had a higher reading, although one was after a meal and party I attended so it's possible there was some sugar in some of the things I ate. I am still off the glucose meds and although I know my system has a glucose processing issue during my sleep, my day time activities put my mid day numbers usually around 80, even if the morning number is 140ish or if it's only 110.
That's about all for now... I hope to have a new photo this weekend and probably in a week or two, the last photo as the wound will be totally closed up with only scar tissue.
Tuesday March 27, 2007 Sunday night, I went to bed. I had no sooner turned over when I felt the cold wet under my back and knew the wound was bleeding. Sure enough, a new vein just under the scar tissue where it meets the raw section was letting out a flow. It took a while to stop it and get another bandage on but has not done that again since. It does itch just a little and looks strange with the veins showing through some... I am told eventually, the scar will thicken and they will not be as noticeable. BP was 138/86 this morning... Glucose levels have been reading mostly ok, my average for the month is 120... I had a few really high and the other day, I had a very, VERY low (57) reading. I did not feel the low sugar feeling so I tested again... it ready 90, tried it again, 76.. so then, I got on a mission.. I tested the left vs the right, and there was such a big inconsistent difference that I called the maker of the meter. A new one is on the way... so, I am now unsure how well I've been doing with the glucose levels... all in all, spring is in the air and things are great!
