Pets - Past and Present

I will be working on updating this page soon with pets from the past and updates on my current pets... for now, the original info on the old desgined site.
Thanks for your patience.

I try to do a lot with Horse Rescue in various ways, but on occasion I find myself helping with Dog Rescue. Recently, "RUPERT" a small chow mix puppy became the center of my attention. He is such a sweet a loving puppy but is really having a hard time dealing with puppy mange. I'm not giving up and already he is showing some signs of improvement with less scratching, however; I know it's still major itching and pain for this little darling. The treatment is costly so anyone who would like to help, it would sure be appreciated. This can be done with a donation (via paypal at my email address listed below) or by direct purchase of treatment supplies and vet bills. RUPERT will sure thank you as will I. (Click on photo to enlarge - Photo of Rupert taken December 19, 2008).

Rupert's first visit to the vet, December 26, 2008 (see photo left). The test for mange mites are negative, but the symptoms are there so he is being treated for them as a precaution. He is estimated to be 10 weeks old and is 6 pounds and a few ounces. His spirits are high. His visit was not a pleasant one, he had to get scraped and a shot but he's doing better now. He has to go back in a week for the 1st of 3 more shots and is taking antibiotics. Tomorrow, he gets to play with my Minnie Aussie (Baby Blue). He's also on Benadryl for the itching.

For those that might help with his vet bill and don't want to send it straight to me or feel you're more comfortable knowing it is actually being used to help Rupert, you can contact the vet directly and pay toward the bill and the next visits Which will be around $60 each). You can call the Dogwood Animal Hospital at 910-864-1535 and tell them you would like to put however much on the account to help Rupert. The account is in my name (Billy Baldwin). The staff here is wonderful and so is the Vet who took her time to make sure Rupert was taken care of (we were there almost 3 hours). She really helped and explained everything to us.

Second vet visit... Rupert gained 2 pounds in a week and is doing great.. acting like a puppy and all.. here are a few new pics of Rupert and Baby Blue (also Baby Blue with sister Diamond Girl Dec 2007 playing their chase and bite the butt game).

The Latest

So I didn't update this much since then... breifly.. he healed from his first problems but does have sensitivifty to being touched in those areas. He looks more like the shaggy dog or benji than a chow now. Recently, he developed an uler on his eye. 8 weeks we have been treating it.. the ulcer is healing but the eye lid is still turned in from the first sweeling... he is still on eye drops and is the best patient dog for getting them. We may have to have surgery. He also has a small tumor on his right leg but the Vet tested it and says it's nothing to worry about and will probably go away on it's on.

More updates soon and thank you all for the love sent in to Rupert. You would love him even more if you were around him. I think he's getting an ego from the staff at the Vets. When we walk in they all stop and come over to see "Rupert!!!!!"

Video Clip

I'm not sure this will work, but I'm going to try and embed a small video of Rupert taken on December 28, 2008. Just in case, here is a link to the video. Rupert, The Rescued Pup (still needs help)
